Raffle for a Cause: Cassia’s Tribute to Her Best Friend’s Mum

Twenty-five years ago, Cassia from the Waikato lost someone incredibly dear to her—a close family friend who was like a second mother, taken too soon by motor neurone disease (MND).

“This precious lady was one of my mum’s best friends and an inspiration to me—a truly beautiful human. I still miss her every day,” Cassia shares. “It was hard to watch MND take her life, and it’s been hard seeing my best friend live without her mama.”

Motivated by her personal connection to the cause, Cassia is stepping up to make a difference. She’s raffling off a Thermomix, a versatile kitchen appliance that can transform meal prep, making cooking more accessible and enjoyable.

“The Thermomix is like having an extra pair of hands in the kitchen. It’s especially helpful for those with physical limitations who still want to cook independently, and it’s a game-changer for busy parents,” she explains.

The Thermomix TM6, valued at $2,699, is the prize up for grabs in Cassia’s raffle. Tickets are $25 each and there are 200 tickets available. Cassia hopes to raise $2,500, all of which will go directly to support those affected by MND.

The raffle will conclude at the end of September or when all tickets are sold, whichever comes first. To get the the raffle details and stay up to date on the draw, Cassia has set up a Facebook event where participants can purchase tickets and follow along.
