Bridge for Motor Neurone Disease: 15 September

Charity Bridge 2024

We warmly invite all bridge players to our annual charity bridge tournament on Sunday, 15 September 2024, at 1 pm. Hosted by The Royle Epsom Bridge Club, this event holds special significance as we raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease NZ.

For many years, MND NZ Board member Estelle and her late husband Geoff led the charge, hosting tournaments to support causes close to the hearts of the club's members. Estelle fondly reflects on the tight-knit bridge-playing community, saying, “Bridge tournaments are an amazing way to raise money for causes that have impacted us in some way. Everyone knows everyone, and when combined with doing something we all enjoy, the generosity flows with the fun of the tournament atmosphere.”

When Geoff was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2020, the club rallied to dedicate the next tournament to MND NZ. Despite the challenges of COVID, the community’s dedication ensured the event went ahead, offering much-needed support during a difficult time.

Sadly, Geoff passed away in September 2021, but his memory lives on through this cherished annual event, with last year's fundraiser raising an impressive $4690 for the cause. This year’s tournament will once again honour Geoff’s legacy while raising vital funds to help those affected by MND.

Join us for an afternoon of bridge, followed by afternoon tea, a glass of wine, and plenty of prizes. Let’s come together for a fun-filled day and make a difference!
