Support for health professionals

We help guide health professionals so they can provide the best support and care for people living with MND, their carers, families, and whānau.

Our Regional Support Advisors help link their clients with the appropriate health care professionals from multi-disciplinary teams of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, speech language therapists, and community nurses across New Zealand.

Support Advisors can also act on their client’s behalf to navigate government agencies and specialist equipment services.

The Support Advisors can:

  • Support health professionals involved in MND care who may have had limited experience of MND
  • Provide up-to-date, trusted MND information and education
  • Raise awareness and understanding of MND and developments in MND care, treatment and research
  • Promote communication, information sharing, and collaboration between health professionals (e.g. via attendance of multidisciplinary team meetings) and other community providers
