Ride for Ronnie 2024
Community, Fundraising
12 September 2024
Ronnie Harris was diagnosed with MND in July 2022, whilst visiting his beloved birthplace, Scotland.
It was of course, a devastating blow to Ronnie and Jane, but the way in which they both dealt with the diagnosis and continued to make the very best of the time left together, was an inspiration to all.
Ronnie’s deterioration towards the end was rapid and he very sadly passed away on Saturday, 16 December 2023, in Auckland.
What a fitting tribute to be able to mark his anniversary in such a positive way, by coming together in order to raise funds to support other sufferers and continue the search for a cure.
Richard, Jane, and team Ride for Ronnie are taking part in the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge on 30 of November 2024 – a 160km annual event around the famous lake, and hope to raise as much as possible to help support the over 400 individuals and their families affected by MND.
In the lead-up to the cycle challenge we’ll be raising funds through a cinema night at The Vic Devonport, where we’ll be screening one of Ronnie’s favorite films, the Scottish classic, Local Hero. Come along to our cinema night with all proceeds to MND NZ, and all are welcome to join the cycle team. Thank you in advance for your support!
