Walking for hope this November
Community, Events, Fundraising
14 October 2026

As Chief Executive of MND NZ, Walk to Defeat MND is one of the highlights of my year.
We know how important community and solidarity are for people and whānau affected by MND. We also know the value of learning from those who have walked this path before us.
What stands out to me most, however, is the hope that events like Walk to Defeat MND create.
Every day, our team works with the hope that the research we support will improve lives, strengthen care and treatment options, and contribute to future breakthroughs. That hope is made possible by the generosity of our community.
Walk to Defeat MND is the cornerstone of our annual fundraising efforts. When we come together on 7 November, we’re doing more than taking part in a community event. We’re raising vital funds for research, advocacy, education, and support services that make a real difference to people affected by MND across New Zealand.
Every step taken and every dollar raised helps create hope for today and tomorrow.
If you haven’t already registered, we’d love you to join us. Sign up, invite your friends and whānau to support your fundraising, and be part of something meaningful.
Join us on 7 November and help Walk to Defeat MND.
