MND New Zealand was chosen as the charity beneficiary of the Grocery Charity Ball 2019. The premier event on the grocery industry social calendar has directed over $3million to charitable trusts since it began in 2004, with support from sponsor organisations including Foodstuffs, Countdown and the New Zealand Food & Grocery Council.

Held at Sky City Convention Centre on Saturday 14th September, The Grocery Ball Trustees and S2N organised an amazing event. The room looked spectacular themed “Beauty and the Beast”, complete with a dazzling chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The entertainment was quirky and fun, and so many companies got involved by sponsoring the event and donating auction items. Jackson Horton, who stood up in front of nearly 700 people to share his personal experience of his father living with motor neurone disease, spoke with passion and did everyone proud.

The event raised an incredible $245,000 in aid of MND New Zealand! This is one of the largest amounts raised by the event in recent years. We’re humbled and grateful to receive this contribution, which will help us continue to provide free, personalised service for people with MND in New Zealand.

A massive thanks to The Grocery Ball Trust and everyone who donated auction items to the 2019 Grocery Charity Ball in support of MND New Zealand.
