Taupō retiree and former nurse Sally Sims, who was diagnosed with MND in 2022, is hosting a charity auction with residents at Summerset Taupō to raise money for MND research.

👉 1pm at Summerset by the Lake, Taupō

👉 Saturday 26 August

👉 Everyone welcome

Local community members and businesses have donated items ranging from wine, café vouchers, bungee jumps, skydives, and second-hand items to be auctioned on Saturday. Tea, coffee, and cake will be available to purchase, plus a raffle for a beautiful queen-sized quilt made by Sally.

Proceeds from the day will be donated to Motor Neurone Disease NZ to fund research to find treatments that will delay and ultimately cure the disease.

Sally shared her experience with MND – first as a nurse caring for people with MND, and then being diagnosed with the disease – as part of MND Action Month during June. Read the article, here.

If you’d like to donate an item to be auctioned, please call resident organiser Graeme Rodley on 021 222 0779. You can also make a financial donation to the fundraiser on the Givealittle page:

Thanks for your incredible efforts Sally and the team at Summerset 💙
