Save the Date: Walk to Defeat MND returns on Saturday 07 November 2026 💙
Awareness, Community, Events
21 July 2026
Mark your calendars. Walk to Defeat MND is returning nationwide on Saturday 07 November 2026.
Each year, Walk to Defeat MND brings people together to walk in honour, memory, and support of those affected by motor neurone disease (MND), while raising vital awareness and funds for MND NZ's support services and research.
MND is a terminal neurological disease that progressively takes away a person's ability to walk, talk, eat, swallow, and eventually breathe. Over 400 New Zealanders are living with MND at any given time, and there is still no cure.
Walk to Defeat MND is a chance for communities across Aotearoa to come together, show solidarity, and create hope. Whether you're walking for a loved one, in memory of someone special, or simply to support the MND community, every step makes a difference.
We're excited to confirm Walk events in:
📍 Auckland
📍 Wellington
📍 Christchurch
More locations may be added through community-led events around the country.

Could you organise a Walk in your community?
Walk to Defeat MND is powered by volunteers.
Anyone can organise a community Walk, whether you have a personal connection to MND or simply want to support a worthy cause. Community Walks vary from large public events with entertainment and fundraising activities to smaller gatherings that bring local people together in support of one another.
It's a wonderful way to connect with your community and support people affected by MND close to home. Plus, we'll provide guidance, resources, and support every step of the way.
Interested in organising a Walk in your area? We'd love to hear from you. Contact for more information.
