Registrations are now open for Walk to Defeat MND 2026.

On Saturday 07 November, people across Aotearoa New Zealand will come together to honour loved ones, support those affected by motor neurone disease (MND), and raise vital funds for Motor Neurone Disease NZ (MND NZ).

MND is a progressive and terminal neurological disease that gradually takes away a person's ability to walk, talk, eat, swallow, and eventually breathe. More than 400 New Zealanders are living with MND at any given time, and there is still no cure.

Every step taken in Walk to Defeat MND helps make a difference.

Funds raised help MND NZ provide support, advocacy, information, education, and connection for people and whānau affected by MND, while also investing in research that improves quality of life, advances understanding of the disease, and creates hope for the future.

Join us in 2026

We're excited to once again host official Walk events in:

📍 Auckland
📍 Wellington
📍 Christchurch

Supporters can also take part virtually from anywhere in New Zealand or join a community-led Walk.

Whether you're walking for a loved one, in memory of someone special, or simply to stand alongside the MND community, your participation matters.

Every step matters

Walk to Defeat MND is more than a fundraiser. It's an opportunity to come together as a community and show that no one should face MND alone.

By registering, you'll receive your own fundraising page and resources to help share your story, rally support, and raise vital funds.
