MND Action Month 2025: We tipped, we poured, we made time count
Community, Fundraising, MND NZ
16 July 2025

Buckets were tipped. Brews were poured. But MND Action Month 2025 was more than just fundraising — it was a nationwide effort to raise awareness, start conversations, and support people living with motor neurone disease. Together, we helped make time count.
From heartfelt Cuppa Tea parties to exhilarating Ice Bucket Challenges, people all over Aotearoa stepped up with aroha, creativity, and courage. Whether it was a high tea in the staff room, a sausage sizzle in the Bunnings car park, or a solitary plunge into icy water, every act helped shine a light on what it means to live with MND.
💙 The impact we made together
Thanks to your generosity and action:
- $152,000+ was raised — helping sustain and grow personalised support, education and advocacy for more than 400 New Zealanders living with MND
- 90+ events were held nationwide — from workplaces and schools to marae, homes, and community centres
- Countless conversations were sparked — bringing visibility, compassion, and connection to a disease too often hidden
This year’s incredible total will also help us establish a new education programme for people diagnosed with MND, their families, and the healthcare professionals who support them. It’s another step toward better care, better understanding, and better outcomes.
🫖 Real stories. Real change.
Throughout June, we shared powerful personal stories — moments of bravery, humour, grief, and determination — that reminded us why this work matters. Behind every statistic is a person. Behind every cuppa, a connection. Behind every bucket, a bold show of support.
Together, we tipped and poured for those we love, those we remember, and for the 120+ New Zealanders who will receive a life-changing diagnosis of MND this year.
Thank you
Your support has helped bring warmth, visibility, and hope to the MND community — and we couldn’t be more grateful.
Ngā mihi nui for making time count 💙
