The David Oliver Beacon Award is an annual award that honours, acknowledges and celebrates those who have made a significant contribution to the MND community.

The theme for 2019 is: Acknowledging an individual or team making a difference on the journey of people or families living with motor neurone disease.

We’re delighted to announce that this year’s recipient of the David Oliver Beacon award is… David Seymour!

David, who is living with MND, was nominated because he continues to live his life as fully as the disease allows, raising awareness about MND as often as he can and was instrumental in initiating Walk 2 D’Feet MND events in Whangarei in 2017 and 2018.

David had this to say: “Being selected to receive the David Oliver Award is rather humbling. Getting involved and engaging with others with MND has helped me to learn what to expect and that there are ways to work through issues, both physically and emotionally. I’ll continue to help and support others and truly hope an effective treatment is available soon.”
