The Corporate Ice Bucket Challenge

Would you take pleasure in nominating a CEO, General Manager or Director in your own or another corporation, to have a bucket of ice water dumped over their head, all to raise funds and awareness of motor neurone disease (MND)?

Then get involved in The Corporate Ice Bucket Challenge.

The Corporate Ice Bucket Challenge gives companies the opportunity to nominate a big boss to take on the challenge by pledging the first sponsorship donation.

MND New Zealand can supply resources to nominate your selected participant and ask if they are willing to accept the challenge of raising $5,000 in aid of MND New Zealand!

This is a great way for kiwi companies to get involved, generously pledging the first sponsorship donation and supporting the motor neurone disease community in New Zealand.

Each year, participants are announced during  Motor Neurone Disease Awareness Month in June, and set the date they will complete the challenge during summer.

MND New Zealand works closely with both nominators and nominees, providing resources and support to make fundraising and promotion as easy as possible. Your company can help by nominating a participant and pledging a generous donation.

Participants to date

Director of Angel Street, Marcus Gerbich, who developed the challenge,  successfully nominated these three participants in 2019:

  • Calum Haslop - Go Bus Director
  • Murray Schnuriger - PwC Managing Partner
  • Andrew Carpenter - TR Group Managing Director

Each nominee set up their online fundraising pages and Angel Street kicked things off by generously sponsoring each of the participants $5,000.

On the 10th November 2019, the trio completed The Corporate Ice Bucket Challenge, having raised over $50,000 in online and offline donations in aid of MND New Zealand - what an incredible achievement!
